Panels and presentations to cover emerging music-tech-policy issues; live webcast brings discussion beyond Beltway

National research, education and advocacy nonprofit Future of Music Coalition is pleased to announce its upcoming D.C. Policy Day, which takes place at New America Foundation in Washington, D.C. on May 25, 2010.

One of our key events each year since 1993, our conference is designed for nonprofit communicators: volunteers and staff who are responsible for telling their group’s story, through the news media or other channels. We bring them together with journalists looking for stories ‘off the beaten path’ and invite these sets of people to join in a dialogue on how to produce news that matters.

Does the FCC have the authority to enforce its Network Neutrality principles? Or to refashion the Universal Service Fund to promote broadband adoption? Or to protect consumer privacy and promote competition?

The future of the Internet is under consideration now at the FCC, with private industry, Congress and the federal courts getting in on the act. This month, Seattle will get to have our say as well! On Tuesday, April 27, FCC staff will join Reclaim the Media, Hidmo and other community organizations for an informal roundtable discussion on protecting an open Internet.

The FCC will hold an official workshop on Preserving the Open Internet.
