SNCAT helps better educate western Nevada work force

About 60 people ushered in a new era of technological development and community access last week with a toast to the successful move of Sierra Nevada Community Access Television into a state-of-the-art studio in Meadowood Mall.

"I think community-based television is extremely important to all of us," said Tom Fitzgerald, Nevadaworks chief executive officer, one of three speakers at last Monday's event. "The world-class facility you have to offer is a great opportunity to offer skills to our community in a way that will be very important in today and tomorrow's media world."

Nevadaworks awarded SNCAT a $96,000 grant to train 10 unemployed adults in video production, Web development skills and animation, and then help them find jobs or enterprise new businesses.  [ more ]
