Framingham Public Access Corporation (FPAC), a nonprofit corporation that manages Public Access television in the Town of Framingham, Massachusetts, invites applications for the fulltime position of Executive Director. Job Description Summary: The Executive Director’s key responsibilities include operations, planning, outreach, and development. This person must lead and inspire others, manage a team and facility effectively, and encourage membership growth and the production of diverse and quality programming. The Executive Director reports to the President of the Board of Directors. The Executive Director must be an energetic, self-directed, engaging leader with a passion for the Public Access mission. FPAC is looking for an Executive Director who is committed to increasing viewers, membership, and programming, and who will promote recognition of FPAC’s value and help take FPAC to its next level of growth and development. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Oversee administrative, financial, technical and program operations, and all FPAC personnel matters. Manage the routine operations of the Corporation. * Develop and coordinate an active volunteer program. * Develop and oversee effective Public Access training programs. * Maintain a close working relationship with representatives of the Town of Framingham and other civic institutions and community leaders. * Work with the Board of Directors to give direction and leadership to the achievement of FPAC’s mission, goals and objectives, to develop and implement policies, procedures, and long-range strategic plans, and to respond to the challenges of Public Access. * Prepare and present to the Board of Directors a monthly report on operations which describes current projects, accomplishments, potential problem areas, and productivity metrics. * Prepare a proposed annual budget for each fiscal year. Following Board approval, administer the annual budget. Implement responsible fiscal procedures and policies. Negotiate and ensure compliance with FPAC contracts. Monitor operating expenses to assure cost effective operations and purchasing procedures. * Employ, direct, supervise and terminate services of other members of the staff. Additional Duties and Responsibilities * Lead the development of a new studio facility * Pursue and incorporate additional revenue sources through a variety of fundraising and entrepreneurial activities, consistent with the mission of the organization. * Keep informed of trends, issues, events and developments within the Public Access field through professional peer contacts and other communications in order to facilitate sharing of knowledge and best practices. Education/Experience * BA or BS degree in communications, video production, or a related field, from an accredited college or university * A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory, managerial and/or administrative experience in the PEG Access field, or in related areas such as community media, public administration, arts, etc. Executive Director experience is a plus. Required Knowledge/Skills * Extensive knowledge of the cable television and PEG Access field * Demonstrated experience in fiscal administration, planning, management of nonprofit organization(s), and human resource development * Personnel management experience, including responsibility for hiring and termination * Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communications skills, as well as excellent public speaking skills * Demonstrated self-confidence and sound judgment sufficient to handle challenges * Demonstrated desire to positively impact the community and to improve public dialogue through access to communications media * Ability to outreach to and work with diverse groups, individuals, ideas and opinions; cross-cultural competence and a demonstrated commitment to diversity * Excellent computer, internet and new technology skills Desirable Qualifications * Knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Facil, Tightrope, and database software * Knowledge of field and studio video production, operating rules and procedures, the use and maintenance of production equipment and varied modes of cablecast and other dissemination technologies * Demonstrated ability to develop and coordinate active volunteer programs. * Work experience with local government agencies, educators and community groups * Executive-level experience in leading a nonprofit organization, preferably in non-commercial PEG Access television * Experience in working effectively with a volunteer Board of Directors and a variety of committees and individuals * Successful track record in fundraising, including short- and long-term planning, grant writing, individual donor outreach, and the ability to cultivate constructive relationships with the funding community * Experience with access studio facility planning, design and build-out Other Information * The anticipated employment starting date is April 1, 2010. * A competitive salary commensurate with experience will be offered, along with an excellent benefits package. * FPAC is an equal opportunity employer.
